Gavin found a lump on his neck about a year ago... we originally thought it might be a spider bite, and then it still didn't go away so we thought maybe it was a pimple or something but it still didn't go away so earlier this month I made an appointment to have the ENT check it out, he said he thought it was just a cyst and we scheduled the surgery for July 23rd.
I have to tell you this part! Gavin is not anywhere close to a kid who will hold still or let you do anything that he doesn't want to. If he gets scared, he'll start screaming, and kicking and blocking you from doing anything that you're trying to do!!
So back to the surgery... he was going to have to be put to sleep with the IV and then of course get the surgery. I didn't tell Gavin much about it so that I didn't get him scared and have to drag him in to the place. We got to the place and we let him take his blanket, his stuffed frog and a Ben 10 toy.... we were set! We got back for them to give him versed which was supposed to calm him down. Well the lady giving him the medicine, which was just liquid told him it would make him feel goofy... this was what set him off. She went to give it to him and he started screaming and kicking and covering his mouth... she asked if we didn't want to give it to him and I told her that he definately needs it if there were going to get further than here! SO I told Gavin they changed their minds and they just needed to give him tylenol! It worked! Thank goodness! The Dr came in to talk to us before the surgery was done and he wanted to draw on the lump to mark it for surgery, that was a no go for Gavin, so he skipped that part. Then the anesthesiologist came in and asked if Gav would go with him and Gavin said "In a wheelchair" thankfully he went along with it and grabbed the wheelchair to take Gavin.. then everything went well... Here's the pictures from before the surgery!

Gavin sounds like me at that age. I hated doctors and anything to do with them. I even locked myself in a bathroom one time and the janitor had to come and unlock the door and then it took my mom and four nurses to hold me down while the fifth gave me a shot... I was 5! I am glad he did much better and that he is home and recovering well!!
