Going Private???

Has anyone thought about going private with their blogs? I realize that you are only giving out your info to the people that you would like to view your blog but I know others can get into it and also if you were just to google your names it would pop up as well... I've kinda thought about it but wanted to see what others think about it too!!

I have thought about this quite often, but have not yet for a few reasons:

1. My sis had a internet police officer come and speak to their ward about the dangers of the internet and I guess they got into a pretty big discussion about blogs and there saftey. He said, that as of now, blogs are not becoming an issue. Finding trouble through things like Myspace are just much simplier and less complciated that blogs are not a choice of "passage" right now.

2. If you go to my blog you will see my "feedjit" at the bottom of my friends list. This has been quite helpful, as I can see who is visiting my blog. It's pretty easy to tell if there is someone who is just simply "blog hopping" or if someone is continually coming frequently enough to make me nervous that I'm not aware of. You can easily put this on your blog.

3. You should be able to block your blog off of the google list in your settings. I have tried to find my blog a number of times by just googling it and haven't (yet). I am VERY careful to keep things pretty un-detailed (I don't give the name of the parks I go to, schools, the city I live in, ect. ect.) This isn't to say that I don't think I can't be found, as I'm sure if someone really wants to they can; but it does make it harder for any internet predator. Why chose me when there are easier targets?

Like I said, I really rely a lot on my feedjit, and there may come a time that there is an uninvited viewer coming often enough, I may go private. But as for now, I feel relatively safe.

Wow, long comment. Sorry! Hope it helps!

I was going to say what the alberts family said. Sometimes I think of making my blog private but then I think of all my friends I found and just can't do it. Do what you think is best for your family though.
